Training Services and Supplies
We offer training aids and provide in-person training sessions in our Wisconsin laboratory for animal reproduction professionals.
Basic Training – Attend a half-day training session to review animal anatomy, reproduction techniques, and practice manipulating and grading oocytes and embryos.
OPU Lab Techniques – Participate in a day-long training of ovum pick-up laboratory techniques and practice recovering, manipulating, and grading oocytes and embryos.
Comprehensive Training – Schedule a week-long training for yourself or a group covering a full range of animal reproduction lessons and techniques. Participants will learn about anatomy, reproductive cycles, general ultrasound techniques, and the manipulation of oocytes and embryos as part of artificial insemination and embryo transfer procedures using real and simulated reproductive tracts. At your request, the training can also include an on-farm component to provide experience working with live animals.
Custom Training – Build a training program to fit your needs. We can work with you to develop a customized program that incorporates just the processes and skills important to you.

Training Aids
Fixed Oocytes / Embryos – For training purposes, we offer sets of preserved oocytes and embryos at various stages of development—from unfertilized oocytes to blastocysts. They are useful for a wide range of teaching exercises, as well as for testing and practicing laboratory procedures.
Ovaries – Bovine and porcine ovaries with follicles and corpora lutea representing various stages of the estrous cycle are great for teaching anatomy. Samples are washed, frozen and bagged.
Reproductive Tracts – Complete male and female bovine and porcine reproductive tracts are washed, trimmed, and packaged in vacuum-sealed bags. Tracts can be shipped frozen or cooled, and are great for anatomy classes and ultrasound practice.
